The Ramble

Overview

Some consider a ramble a walk down a wooded trail. Others believe it to be a protected green space. Both concepts apply to The Ramble, Asheville's newest community. It is here in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina that George W. Vanderbilt chose to locate his remarkable Biltmore Estate. The Ramble is set on nearly 1,000 acres of land originally acquired for the Estate. In fact, Vanderbilt walked daily from Biltmore House to North Ducker Mountain, where The Ramble is located. From The Ramble's summit can be viewed Biltmore Estate, the French Broad River and Mount Pisgah, the area's highest elevation.

Closely patterned after the designs of architect Frederick Law Olmsted, the chief architect of New York’s Central Park, The Ramble will feature community gardens, parks and green spaces. The community's neighborhoods will lie along the southern boundary of the historic Town of Biltmore Forest, and nestle into Ducker Mountain's northern face, with streets winding from the valley below, along mountain streams and through tall woods, to emerge at the highest ridge line.

The Ramble is ideally situated within minutes of the Mission Health & Hospitals, 15 minutes north of Asheville Regional Airport and 15 minutes south of Asheville's abundant shopping and restaurants. This small, captivating city is regularly chosen as one of the best places in the country to live, by sources as respected yet diverse as Outside and AARP magazines, and Rand McNally.
